BOSTON -- If you're a smoker, the state is hoping to get you to stop by giving you a chance to test out the nicotine patch for free.NewsCenter 5's Jim Boyd reported Tuesday that there are 900,000 smokers in Massachusetts, according to state health officials.

Now, state public health officials are offering free nicotine patch kits as an incentive to smokers who want to kick the habit.The free patch kit contains about two weeks worth of patches. It has a $50 retail value, and there are no income restrictions on who may get one.The state has 26,000 patch kits waiting to be taken by smokers and more will be ordered if needed.Click Here For Free Nicotine Patches
