History buffs and people fascinated with the Kennedy clan plan to head to Stamford, Conn., this weekend for the auction of some rare and newly discovered Kennedy family memorabilia.

Among the treasures are the life ring from the Victura, the Kennedy family sailboat that the late president sailed on from about the time he was 15 until his death, an autographed photo of Jacqueline Kennedy, a photo of John F. Kennedy and Jackie on their honeymoon and some spectator photographs of the Kennedy motorcade just prior to the assassination in Dallas.

The items, about 2,000 in all, were provided to the auction house Alexautographs.com by a man who said he bought them from a former Kennedy family worker. The worker said he was either given them by Joan Kennedy or retrieved them from the trash.
