34 Injured In Bus Rollover Last Week

BOSTON -- The safety record of the Fung Wah bus company is the subject of a state investigation.NewsCenter 5's Rhondella Richardson reported that company officials called to a hearing Monday afternoon to explain incidents including last week's bus rollover in Auburn.Thirty-four passengers were sent to the hospital after the crash. The driver was cited for speeding.The company must cease and desist operating any unsafe or unsanitary bus and the state demanded that drivers be proficient in reading and writing English, the Department of Telecommunications and Energy said Monday after a two-hour, closed-door hearing with company officials."Fung Wah will provide DTE with written policies relating to driver safety, training, and preventative maintenance," according to a statement released by DTE on Monday.The company will also be subjected to random inspections and another review in 30 days.
