Painstaking police work has reportedly yielded forensic evidence linking a New York bar bouncer to the death of slain Boston graduate student Imette St. Guillen.

St. Guillen, 24, a Boston native working on a criminal justice master's degree in New York, was found raped, strangled and suffocated in a deserted Brooklyn field Feb. 25. Witnesses last saw a drunken St. Guillen at a trendy SoHo bar called The Falls, where owners told bouncer Darryl Littlejohn, 41, to escort her out at closing time.

NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that New York police have now matched fibers found in Littlejohn's Jamaica, Queens, home with fibers found at the scene where St. Guillen's body was dumped.

Now detectives are testing Littlejohn's clothing for possible DNA evidence. They left his home with bags of his clothing early Thursday morning. Neighbors said Littlejohn always had a distinctive way of dressing.

"The military suits, Army fatigues, I have seen him in that quite often. You know, I said, OK, well, this must just be his style. And from that style he had the nickname, 'The Nazi,'" neighbor Chineka Buckner said.

NewsCenter 5 confirmed that carpet fibers taken from Littlejohn's home matched threads found on the packing tape and blanket used to wrap St. Guillen's body.

Littlejohn is also a prime suspect in a series of brutal rapes in New York. Wednesday, a woman picked his picture out of a photo array and identified him as the man who taped her hands, feet and face and then assaulted her. Littlejohn could be charged with rape as early as Thursday.

Police said they are involved in extensive DNA testing.

"We're doing DNA testing and we're doing testing of materials to see if certain materials match up; materials taken from one location, do they match some items that may have been found on the body or near the body," New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

Two days ago, the bouncer's blue minivan was seized and a seat had been removed from the van. The seat was found in Littlejohn's home and it is also being examined.
