New York police were awaiting DNA test results from evidence collected in the slaying case of Imette St. Guillen, 24, whose body was found in a Brooklyn field last month.

NewsCenter 5's Sean Kelly reported that Guillen's body was found raped and strangled on Feb. 25. She was last seen at The Falls Bar in Manhattan, where Darryl Littlejohn, 41, was a bouncer.

Police guarded Littlejohn's home as dozens of bags of evidence were seized. Reports quote police sources, who said that they took carpet samples and tube socks to see if any matched a sock found in St. Guillen's taped mouth.

"I live across the street, and I didn't know that was going on. I am nervous and scared. I just think that it could have been me," one resident said.

Investigators were trying to determine if any of St. Guillen's DNA could be recovered from Littlejohn's van that was found three blocks from his home. Officials recovered a rear seat of the van that was removed from the vehicle.

Detectives were also working to solve three separate rape cases in the area that officials said could have involved Littlejohn, Kelly said. Police confirmed that Littlejohn was being investigated for a November rape of a 15-year-old girl. The victim in that case described a van that was similar to the van parked near Littlejohn's home. In each of the three rape cases, alleged victims described a muscular black man who wore clothes to mimic a federal agent.

Suspicions about Littlejohn have been generated by circumstantial evidence, including reports that Littlejohn escorted St. Guillen from The Falls Bar.

Detectives tracked Littlejohn's cell phone, according to reports, to a location close to where St. Guillen's body was recovered. Witnesses said that Littlejohn had a large scratch on his neck the night that detectives started searching for the person responsible for St. Guillen's death.

Littlejohn, who has a long criminal record, is being held on parole violations at Rikers Island prison.
