Neil Entwistle has agreed to return to Massachusetts to face charges that he murdered his wife and 9-month old daughter in their Hopkinton home last month.

NewsCenter 5's Pam Cross reported that Entwistle arrived at the British court in a police van Friday and was hustled inside by officers. He told a British judge that he would not oppose extradition.

After the proceeding, his British legal team spoke for the 27-year-old, who is accused of shooting his American wife, Rachel, and their 9-month old daughter, Lillian.

"He is anxious that the delay may give his late wife's family and his own additional distress, something he wishes to avoid," Entwistle's attorney, Judith Seddon, said.

"I don’t think the family feels in the position right now to respond to anything Neil has to say about this case. They'll let the Middlesex District Attorney's Office speak for them," family spokesman Joe Flaherty said.

Middlesex County District Attorney Martha Coakley's office is speaking through court documents released Friday. Three days after the murders Massachusetts, an affidavit reads, police called Entwistle at his parents' home in England. He said he left home to do an errand and "... returned ... and found his wife and daughter dead from gunshot wounds. He … did not call for emergency assistance, but instead covered them up and got a knife to kill himself, but could not go through with it."

Entwistle went to Logan International Airport the next morning and flew home. In his car, police found the keys to his in-law's home. He told police he couldn't get into the Carver house where the gun was kept, the affidavit said.

The court affidavit continued, "DNA matching Neil Entwistle was found on the grip of the firearm and DNA matching Rachel Entwistle was found on the muzzle end of the firearm."

"We worked for weeks on this, obviously doing investigation with family, friends, background motive, what was this about, who could it have been and we kept a very wide circle initially," Coakley said.

Entwistle will remain under scrutiny as Coakley's office builds their case.
