CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The investigation into who shot and killed a Hopkinton woman and her 9-month-old daughter in their home this weekend now stretches from Massachusetts to England to the Internet.

Rachel Entwistle, 27, and her 9-month-old daughter, Lillian Rose, were found shot to death in their home Sunday.

NewsCenter 5's Janet Wu reported that officials made contact with the woman's husband and the baby's father, Neil Entwistle, who is reportedly in England, several times.

NewsCenter 5 uncovered a series of fraudulent Internet transactions between Neil and Rachel Entwistle and customers of an online auction site. The Entwistles have sold more than $1,000 worth of software and adult business opportunities on eBay during the past three months. Several customers said they never received the products.

"I think it is potentially relative as to why they did this. And, is this a tip of an iceberg of some financial problems that he had or faced?" Middlesex County District Attorney Martha Coakley asked.

Coakley said her office was looking into the couple's financial standing. The couple signed a six-month lease on the Hopkinton house two weeks ago.

"They obviously had rented in a nice neighborhood, a large house, but only for six months. He was driving a BMW. They appeared to live a certain lifestyle. But other than that, we do not have any indication that at the moment that they had a financial crisis," Coakley said.

Coakley said her office is looking into some of the couple's past and present business ventures.

"We will look at that, as well as other information that may give us pieces as to where they were financially and what his state of mind might have been, or someone else's," Coakley said.

Neil Entwistle grew up near Nottingham, England, where he attended the Valley School. It is not known if he has been staying with his parents.

"We are stunned to hear he has been linked to the this incident in Massachusetts. People have jumped to all sorts of conclusions. But the things that have been said, the staff here can't understand where it is coming from," Valley School Headmaster Brian Rossiter said.

The couple apparently met while Rachel Entwistle was studying at York University in England five years ago.
