HOPKINTON, Mass. -- People in Hopkinton were stunned after a young mother and her baby were found dead in their home. They're the first slayings in that town since 1995. Rachel Entwistle, 27, and her 9-month-old baby, Lillian, were found Sunday.
NewsCenter 5's Sean Kelly reported that police were searching for Rachel's husband, Neil. The Entwistles had created a Web site that showcased their relationship, from their marriage to vacations and their new baby. More than a day after police found Rachel and Lillian dead in a bed in the family's leased Hopkinton home, friends posted messages on the site, one expressing sympathy, another leveling blame. Authorities declined to release many details about the case."I'm not going to label anybody a suspect at this time," Middlesex District Attorney Martha Coakley said, adding only that Neil Entwistle was a "person of interest" in the case, as were other familiy and friends this early in an investigation."Like any case we look at, we never jump to conclusions. We're going to take it one step at a time. We're going to wait to see what the [medical examiner] says," Coakley said.Police believe Entwistle is out of town on business. Authorities said he left Friday, possibly the same day someone shot Rachel and Lillian once in the chest with a small-caliber bullet. Police found their bodies in bed Sunday, the day after the couple didn't answer the door for a planned dinner party."We do not know of any possible marital difficulties," Coakley said. She and police stressed that the double murder did not appear random as there was no break-in and nothing was stolen. In a town, however, where there have been no murders in 11 years, people are concerned."Just knowing that there's a murder that happened nearby kind of freaks you out. Just knowing that there's somebody who killed somebody that's still on the loose," neighbor Kenny Ritchie said. The district attorney's office said they have some idea where Entwistle is located, but they're trying to track him down so they can ask him some questions.
