Adventure Club Questioned In Dartmouth Murders

E-Mail Sent To Members Seeking Information

Investigators are asking questions of the Dartmouth Outing Club as they pursue the case of the professor murders. Video Watch Gail Huff's Report Police sent an e-mail to members of the outdoor adventure group asking for information about the sale of unspecified equipment. Investigators said that information might shed light on the investigation into the deaths of Half and Susanne Zantop. Hanover police Chief Nick Giaccone would not comment on the e-mail. He also would not say whether the club is being considered as a possible link between the Zantops and the suspects James Parker, 16, and 17-year-old Robert Tulloch. Giaccone told The Dartmouth, the student newspaper, that investigators also have contacted retailers in the region that sell outdoor equipment. In the months before the murders, Parker and Tulloch had become dedicated rock climbers. Parker was arraigned at a closed juvenile hearing in Grafton County Superior Court in Haverhill on Monday. His lawyers are fighting efforts to have him stand trial as an adult. Defense lawyer Cathy Green described her client as an overwhelmed adolescent who should be treated as a juvenile. Tulloch is scheduled to appear in court for a probable cause hearing on Wednesday.
