No one was hurt, but the accident at exit 22 at the Riverside MBTA station is starting to cause some tie-ups. Southbound from the Massachusetts Turnpike was beginning to bog down and it wasn't helped by a breakdown near Highland Avenue.

NewsCenter 5's SmartRoutes reporter Cindy Campbell said Route 128 was relatively unaffected as the truck was on the side of the ramp, up against a guard rail, and the highway itself was still open. Workers were trying to offload the vehicle.

The truck rolled over shortly before 4 a.m. but none of the beer spilled out onto the roadway and the driver, identified as Jose Perbera, was not injured. Authorities said he thought he was getting on to the ramp for the Mass Pike, so when he hit a curve on the ramp he was going about 50 mph, state police said. He may be facing charges for excessive speed and failure to use care and caution, police said. No other vehicles were involved.

"He mounted the guard rail. He rode it for about 50 to 75 feet. The vehicle flipped over and landed on its side," State Police Capt. Paul McCarthy said.

Authorities said the ramp would be closed for two hours while the accident scene was cleared, but they were surprised just before 7:30 a.m. when they were trying to upright the truck and the roof peeled off, spilling scores of boxes of beer onto the side of the road. The ramp will be closed again in the evening to replace the guard rail.
