BOSTON -- The area will have to endure another few days of cool and damp weather before it gets warmer.
NewsCenter 5's Rhondella Richardson reported that the unseasonably cool weather is slowing restaurant and tour businesses in Boston.Bostonians and tourists are trading their sunglasses and flip-flops for coats and gloves.
"Well, it is rather upsetting because you want to enjoy Boston. You want to see the sunshine, you want to do the outdoor stuff and I am ready to go back to the hotel," said one tourist.City tours on land and sea are going nowhere fast."It is definitely a lot slower than what it typically is. It’s a huge damper on what the tour season usually is," said Stacey Dionne, of Cityview Trolley Tours."As you can see, the entire marina is very empty. So we need the weather to get better," said Will O'Connell, of the Water Club.Todd English's restaurant, Kingfish, still does a good indoor business, but without the patio crowd, business just isn't the same."When you wait six months for the patio to open, then every weekend it rains for the last month. We have heaters, but where the rain comes down it doesn’t matter -- heaters or not," Kingfish general manager Wellington Augusto said. After a cool April and May, businesses are hoping for a warm June.
