BOSTON -- The family of a Dorchester mother who delivered her baby boy at home after being sent home from the hospital twice is speaking out about their scary experience.
NewsCenter 5's Jim Morelli reported that Denia Baez, 30, was nine months pregnant with her fourth child, when she went to Brigham and Women's on Saturday and Sunday saying she wasn't feeling well and was bleeding.Staff at the hospital sent her home after they determined that her contractions were not that strong and that she was not in labor.
But Sunday night, Baez went into labor. Her husband rushed upstairs Sunday night to his sister-in law's house."(He said) 'please call the ambulance, call 911 because my wife had the baby in the house,'" Lisbet Ortega, Baez's sister, said. "I went down and I saw the baby's head coming."Ortega used an aspiration device to clear the baby's throat."It's a nice baby. I am happy," she said. Both mother and child are resting fine at the hospital. They are expected to be released Wednesday.
