BOSTON -- Some local residents are assessing the damage from lightning strikes Tuesday morning after heavy thunderstorms swept through the region Monday night.
In Needham, Mass., at least four homes were struck by lightning. The lightning set off one fire in a home on South Street just after midnight. No one was hurt. In Lowell, Mass., a dispatcher for the city's fire department said
lightning struck a church Monday afternoon. Authorities said a house
in Ipswich, Mass., was also struck by lightning.
The National Weather Service said there were reports of hail in some areas.
