NewsCenter 5's David Boeri reported that George Cercone, 51, is accused of assaulting a girl while he was repairing wheelchairs at a school. Cercone faced two indecent assault charges on a child under 14 at Fitchburg District Court Friday after answering to child pornography charges in another town Thursday.

Cercone went to the Academy Middle School on Monday, allegedly on a service call to work on a wheelchair.

"When the assault took place, witnesses observed the alleged assault, immediately summoned school administration and officials," said Fitchburg Police Sgt. Glenn Fossa. "There were eyewitness observations of the incident, and immediately reported it and action was taken and resulted in this police investigation."

The two eyewitnesses to the alleged assault are both employees at the school.

"Preliminary investigation indicates that he, in fact, is a repairman and there is still an investigation as to whether or not he was called that day or appeared on his own," said Fossa.

Cercone appeared in Lowell District Court Thursday to face child pornography charges. Police said that Cercone used his 9-year-old daughter to lure other children into posing for nude pictures.

He posted a $2,500 bail and pleaded not guilty in that matter. He was released, but while he was in court, it was brought to the court's attention that there was an outstanding warrant in Fitchburg District Court.

Cercone is expected to return to Fitchburg District Court next week.
