NewsCenter 5's Pam Cross reported that Brown was supposed to appear in court at 8:30 a.m., but by 12:15 p.m., he was still not present.

"We have been waiting around. We have been more than patient. I need confirmation from whomever it is that you can call to see whether or not he in fact is on his way," Judge Paula Carey said.

Carey questioned Brown's attorney, Vincent Dimmock, about the singer's whereabouts. Brown was released from a Georgia jail on Monday so that he could make the court appearance.

Kim Ward, the mother of Brown's 14-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son, called Brown to court. He is said to be $70,000 behind in child support. Ward lives in Stoughton and is reportedly in danger of losing her home.

Brown's attorney hoped that a settlement could be reached.

"We'll make a short statement once the hearing is over. Bobby is on the way," Dimmock said.
