Two people were shot in a Worcester home improvement store Monday afternoon.

NewsCenter 5's Mary Saladna reported that that two men were shot in the lumber yard of Lowe's Home Improvement Store at 533 Lincoln St. in Worcester. The store is located just off Interstate 290.

According to witnesses, at 4:30 p.m. Monday, a store employee walked into the store with hunting rifle and a black 9 mm handgun. According to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, he fired eight to 10 shots with the handgun wounding two people.

Worcester police say they have identified the suspect as Mark Lebreton, 38.

One of the victims is a store employee and the other is a contractor for the store, according to a Lowe's spokeswoman.

"At this point, we are working with police to assist in their investigation in anyway we can, " said Lowe's spokeswoman Chris Ahearn.

The store was closed immediately after the shooting, but was reopened early Monday evening.

It's not clear how serious the injuries are, but according to reports, one person was hit in the neck and the other in the arm.

"We do know that the two individuals were shot and were taken to a local hospital and are being treated, " said Ahearn.

Both victims are being treated at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
