NewsCenter 5's Jack Harper reported that searchers found the body of 10-year-old Patric McCarthy at approximately 2 p.m. Friday, almost exactly four days to the hour from when he first disappeared.

"Tonight I regret to have to report to you that searchers successfully located Patric's body. He was located in a remote section of thickly forested wilderness near the head water of Clear Brook," said New Hampshire Fish and Game's Col. Jeff Gray.

Patric, of Bourne, Mass., disappeared Monday while playing outside his family's condominium at Loon Mountain. His stepbrothers said he never returned to the condo after they agreed to race back after playing in the woods.

Patric's body was found about 2 1/4 miles from where he was last seen Monday afternoon. Based on evidence gathered in the case, officials do not suspect foul play.

"All of the evidence at the scene indicates, (and there are) no concerns at this point in terms of any foul play being involved," said Gray.

Patric's immediate family received the word of the discovery Friday afternoon at the search command center after being summoned there by search officials.

Patric's father, Stephen, and stepmother, Margaret, thanked the search crews and hundreds of volunteers at a brief press conference late Friday afternoon.

"Patric's family would like to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who helped us look for Patric. Everything good in people was shown by the outpouring of support in the search effort. The state of New Hampshire, all the agencies involved, everyone from all over the region who came to help find Patric, the Salvation Army has taken care of everyone who was looking for our little boy. All our friends and relatives and all the people who were once strangers, who are now part of our family. Thank you. We love you and always remember Patric," said Stephen McCarthy.

The New Hampshire State Police will rope off the area where Patric's body was found and conduct a full investigation into his death. An autopsy will be performed to determine exactly how the boy died.
