The two men accused in a bloody rampage inside a Lawrence restaurant early Monday morning were expected to be in court Tuesday to face murder charges.

Fernando Guerrero, 27, and Johan Saint Clair, 30, are accused of shooting four people at a birthday celebration at the La Guira restaurant at 205 Broadway about 12:45 a.m. Monday.

A man in his early 20s, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead when police arrived. Another woman was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, and is not expected to survive, police said.

Another man sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Boston Medical Center. A second woman was treated at Lawrence General Hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Witnesses said more than 100 people went running when the shots rang out in the restaurant.

"People were running in all directions from the place," one witness said.

Daisy Lopez said her niece was shot.

"She has one boy and one girl," Lopez said.

The victims' names have not been released.

Police arrested Guerrero and Saint Clair after a chase into Lowell.

"We pursued a vehicle from the location that was fleeing at a high rate of speed. That vehicle was stopped in Lowell with assistance from state police and Lowell police, and we were able to stop that vehicle," Lawrence Police Chief John Romero said.

Police did not comment on a possible motive, but witnesses said the shooting may have been sparked by a jealous boyfriend.
