Abandoned Motorboat Found In Portsmouth Harbor

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- Coast Guard crews are focusing their search along the coastline for a missing boater in the Portsmouth Harbor in the wake of Hurricane Earl.Coast Guard Cmdr. Paul Wolf said the missing person is Robert Schultze, 63, of Shapleigh, Maine.The Coast Guard found an abandoned motorboat belonging to Schultze anchored near Kitts Rock at 2 p.m. Friday. Boat keys, wetsuits and Schultze's license were found on board the 20-foot motorized, open pleasure vessel, the Coast Guard said. A Coast Guard patrol boat was searching through very thick fog and almost zero visibility created by the approaching hurricane. Wolf said the agency is working with state and local agencies to coordinate the search on the water and investigate the incident on shore. A helicopter crew from Cape Cod searched the area briefly but had to return to base because of weather conditions.Wolf said helicopters and boats were saturating the area Saturday.
