BOSTON -- A man with a famous name is accused of showing subway riders his genitals.

Transit police arrested David J. Bowie, 57, at Kenmore Station on Wednesday and charged him with open and gross lewdness, the 20th such arrest involving the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority this year, officials said.

A woman told police that she had noticed a white man sitting diagonally from her pull up his shorts, exposing his genitals, while the train was en route from Longwood Station to Kenmore, transit police said.

The woman told police she believed it was accidental until he started playing with his penis while staring at her. This went on for two minutes, she said, until the woman moved away from Bowie, at which time he put his genitals back in his shorts.
