Tow Truck Crashes Into Stopped Car On Lynnway

LYNN, Mass. -- A Lynn man was killed in a fiery crash Friday afternoon when the car in which he was riding was rear-ended by a tow truck, Massachusetts State Police said.The 23-year-old was sitting in the back seat of a 1988 Honda Civic that was stopped at a traffic light on the Lynnway when it was struck from behind by a flatbed tow truck operated by Derek Gallien, 23, of Peabody.Both vehicles caught fire upon impact and the man who died was unable to get out of the car.Ronnie Huon, 22, and Cassandra Pok, 18, both of Lynn, were sitting in the front seat of the Honda and were able to escape.The tow truck is owned by G and J Towing of Revere.Police, who did not immediately release the name of the victim, said their investigation will determine whether charges will be brought against Gallien.
