BOSTON -- Boston police were investigating a multiple motorcycle crash Saturday night in Charlestown that killed one person and left three others injured.

Police responded to the intersection of Rutherford Ave. and Austin St. at 7:51 p.m. for an accident involving several motorcyclists. When they arrived, four motorcycles had been involved in a crash.

Police said one motorist was pronounced dead at the scene. The three others were transported to Boston hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident caused traffic delays for hours while police worked to clear the accident scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Boston Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
