BOSTON -- Two Boston-area priests were under scrutiny after allegations were made of financial impropriety by one and sexual misconduct by another.Rev. Keith P. Leblanc resigned as pastor of Saint John the Baptist Parish after seven years in Haverhill, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston said in a statement Sunday."The Archdiocese and parish are cooperating with law enforcement on an investigation of a financial nature," the statement said."They just mentioned that he's going away to Philadelphia to get treatment," parishioner Richard Slavit said. "Apparently there was some misappropriation of funds."Leblanc had worked to sell church land to the Merrimack Medical Center in order to raise money to renovate the church. Whether the $1 million transaction is part of the investigation is still unclear."There's a lot of love, a lot of support. People come here seeking forgiveness and redemption, and so we extend the same to Father Keith," said church Deacon Thomas Anthony."I just think it's really, really sad. I liked him a lot," said one female parishioner. The Archdiocese also announced the revocation of Rev. Gabriel Michel’s permission to perform his public ministry after receiving allegations of adult sexual misconduct with an adult, although Archdiocese officials said no criminal activity was alleged.Michel, a priest of the Archdiocese of Cap-Haitien in Haiti, served in the Archdiocese of Boston since 2002, most recently as parochial vicar at St. Angela Merici parish in Mattapan.Michel also has served as a part-time chaplain at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The archdiocese said in a statement that it has notified the Most Rev. Louis Kebreau in Haiti of the allegations. Michel was unavailable for comment. St. Angela Merici's pastor called Michel a "good priest."The church was still deciding whether to replace the assistant pastor.
