BOSTON -- It's a sign of success for a Swampscott man in desperate need of a new kidney.Mark Wolper has been flooded with offers since NewsCenter 5 first aired his story.Everywhere he went, he told everyone he saw he needed a kidney. Diagnosed with only 10 to 20 months to live, his efforts turned up more than 200 potential donors. For every few posters he put out, a few dozen e-mails came in. Wolper, 65, needs a kidney because a drug he takes for Crohn's disease is causing his left kidney to fail. His right kidney had to be removed 11 years ago.The generosity of strangers has been overwhelming. The first five people who e-mailed are already headed to hospitals to see if they're a match.Wolper is like the marketing salesman donor networks never knew they were missing. His personality and personal pitch are the magic touch."I don't want to end life in a chair with tubes coming out," he said. The new kidney would mean no dialysis and it would change his life, he said."Hopefully, it will give me those long locks, curly locks back," he said. "My doctor wants me to work for the kidney foundation as a fundraiser."
