MILTON, Mass. -- The window that had thousands of people flocking to the grounds of Milton Hospital may be moving.
Newscenter 5's Jim Boyd reported that many people claim that they can see the image of the Virgin Mary in the window and, while the archdiocese said it is not a miracle, others see the situation differently. The spectacle drew large crowds when it was first noticed. Thousands of people flocked to the hospital parking lot in the first few days to see what they claim is a miracle."I think they think that if the lady is present, they would get a type of healing they need -- physical, spiritual, mental," said a visitor. But the huge crowds became overwhelming for the hospital. First, the hospital restricted viewing hours but visitors still came at all hours of the day. Next, the hospital draped a tarp over the window until 5 p.m."I am very disappointed. I should be able to see it. It is a gift from God -- the vision of the Virgin Mary. It is very frustrating," said a visitor. But now with the daylight ending earlier, it will not be too long before the window will be in complete darkness during viewing hours, so the archdiocese is considering moving the window to a new location one which people can visit for longer periods during the day."I don't think it is a good idea to move it. It is supposed to be here, and I think by moving it, it will go away," said a visitor."This is where it started. This is where it should be," said another visitor.Hospital officials said as long as even a few people want to see the image, they will do what they can to make that possible, but it has to be from a location the hospital feels is more appropriate.
