Officials Cite Recent Flooding

FREETOWN, Mass. -- Residents in Freetown are being urged to stop using water after officials discovered contamination in two wells, the Standard Times reported.Officials have cited recent flooding for the contamination found in water that serves residents of the Narrows Road area in Assonet and Long Pond in East Freetown, the newspaper reported.Town officials recommend residents get their water tested by a state-certified laboratory within the next 72 hours.The newspaper reported of a resident whose son broke out in a rash after their water tested positive for fecal-based coli form.Town officials said coli form bacteria was found in two wells on Narrows Road and in Long Pond.For more information, residents can call the Freetown health agent by dialing 508-644-2201.
