BOSTON -- Four Brookline police officers have been suspended with pay while the department investigates an incident that took place over the weekend.

An alleged fight involved four off-duty officers and took place around 5 a.m. Sunday on Beacon Street.

The department has not released the names of the suspended officers.

John Galland, owner of Shamrock Entertainment, said his company received a call for a dancer at a bachelor party around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Galland said when the dancer and her chaperone arrived at the party they were told the bachelor had left and they no longer wanted the entertainment. Galland said the chaperone requested payment of $225 or at least gas money. The attendees reportedly refused and ordered the two to leave reportedly telling them "we are all cops."

"There was a sense of entitlement, a superiority complex," Galland said. "It's not right."

Galland said his driver, Bob Sonia, had returned to the car when one of the off-duty officers started taking pictures of his license plate. Sonia got out of the car and that's when he alleges the four officers attacked him.

Sonia was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after suffering a broken eye socket and nose. He also has stitches above his eyebrow, according to Galland.

Galland said he's been in the business for 20 years and has had less than five incidents. "None this brutal," he added. "Nothing has ever escalated to this point."

The police department released a statement saying, "the Brookline Police Department is taking this matter very seriously and immediately launched an investigation into this incident. Consistent with established police department practice, the department has placed four officers on administrative leave pending its outcome."
