WALTHAM, Mass. -- Police at Brandeis University in Waltham are investigating vandalism at the new office of the school's Muslim Student Association.

A university representative said the damage last week was minor, saying a few lamps were overturned, a door was scratched and some silverware was damaged.

The university is promising a full investigation, including whether the vandalism could be characterized as a hate crime.
