Police are searching for a man who stole two $20,000 diamonds from a jewelry store at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree.

A black man entered the Zales jewelry store inside the mall at about 11:30 a.m. A sales associate was showing him two loose diamonds when police say he grabbed the gems and fled to a waiting vehicle with another man inside.

Police saw the dark-colored 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass with Michigan registration CBP2087 on Common Street and attempted to stop the vehicle at Capens Bridge.
