BOSTON -- Two Dorchester girls who disappeared after they left for school on Friday morning were tracked down more than a day later in Everett, police said.

Angela Rivera, 12, and Maithe “Daniela” Ruiz, 10, were in good health when they were located at about 7 p.m., said a Boston police spokesman, who added that charges may be brought against someone in connection with their disappearance.

An official with knowledge of the investigation said the girls were found at the home of Ruiz's biological mother.

The girls were last seen when they left their residence in Dorchester at about 8:40 a.m., heading for separate elementary schools. Neither arrived, however, and a guardian reported them missing a few hours later. The girls were spotted again in East Boston in the afternoon, but they remained missing a day later, and Boston police released a picture of the pair to spur efforts to locate them.

The girls were being questioned at police headquarters in Boston in the evening.
