A transgender group is crying foul over a Saugus restaurant employee's refusal to admit its members.

The group, which calls itself Sisters Family, filed discrimination complaints with the city and the Essex County district attorney's office over the incident, reported Wicked Local Saugus.

One of the members, Robert Knowles, said they tried to get into Capone’s Italian American Restaurant on Jan. 29, but were refused admittance because of their appearance.

According to Knowles, who goes by the name Ashley Bottoms, they were barred from entering the eatery and asked for identification.

After filing a complaint, the group and restaurant management agreed to mediation before the Peabody Licensing Board.

Bottoms said Sisters Family members don't want to hurt anyone, they just want to be accepted for who they are.
