Police are looking for a bold trio of thieves who are stealing televisions from local stores.

Police in Salem, N.H., said on Tuesday evening, a man tried unsuccessfully to steal a 26-inch Vizio LCD HDTV valued at $329.99 from Target. When store employees confronted him, a scuffle ensued, but he was able to get away, police said.

The would-be thief was described as white, about 6 feet tall, about 225 pounds, and was wearing a blue hat, red track jacket and gray sweatpants.

The man jumped in an older black Nissan Maxima that was waiting outside with another man and woman and fled, police said. The car's license plate was covered by a dark T-shirt, police said.

Police said the trio is also suspected in several other area robberies, including a television theft from Target in Haverhill earlier Tuesday, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Salem police at 603-893-1911 or the Southern New Hampshire Crimeline at 603-893-6600.
