BOSTON -- A Springfield man was killed when his car crashed into a tractor trailer head-on on the Massachusetts Turnpike last week, police said.

Police said at about 10:25 p.m. on Feb. 5, a car traveling eastbound on the Mass Pike crossed the median and hit a tractor trailer traveling westbound in Blanford.

The driver of the car, Stanley Vaughan, 49, of Springfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver, a 52-year-old man from Tucker, Ga., was not injured and will not be cited in the crash, police said.
