BOSTON -- Wislandie Aurelein, 8, threw a mean snowball in her first snowstorm ever Wednesday. She arrived from earthquake-stricken Haiti on Super Bowl weekend, and was united with her adoptive parents from North Andover in Miami."It's just wonderful to know that she's safe and with us." said Beth Wescott."It's just one of the most obvious things for us to be able to do. God gave us the resources and the love, and so it's just a joy," said her husband, Andrew Wescott. The couple already has a precocious 5-year old daughter named Alison. He is the pastor of a church that sponsors the orphanage where Wislandie lived and where the couple fell in love with her.Newscenter 5's Amalia Barreda reported the Wescotts first met Wislandie last year, and they started adoption proceedings in the fall. It's normally a three year process, but when the earthquake hit all the paperwork was lost. The Wescotts didn't know what kind of battle was ahead of them to bring Wislandie home. The Wescotts said they don't know what forces intervened to make Wislandie's adoption suddenly get jumpstarted."I'm a pastor so I call it a God thing," chuckled Wescott. Now that they've got Wislandie here they said her American upbringing will include making sure she doesn't forget her roots."I hope she can retain some of the joy of living they have in Haiti, and the hope and the contentment. We have so much and we're not able to be content with it. So I'm hoping she can teach us a little bit about that, but also teach other people about that," said Beth Wescott.
