4-Month-Old Girl Dies From Injuries

Police Say They're Investigating Circumstances Of Death

A 4-month-old girl has died, days after emergency crews responded to a Somersworth apartment and found the baby seriously injured.

Officials said Chantrea Nou died Wednesday night at Maine Medical Center. Police responded to 95 Main St. in Somersworth on Monday and found the girl unresponsive. Emergency crews performed CPR and transported her to Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, N.H.

Chantrea was later taken to Maine Medical Center.

Authorities released few details of her death. An autopsy was performed Thursday, but the results were not released pending further tests.

"I can't get into details about her injuries or the call for medical assistance," said Senior Assistant Attorney General Susan Morrell. "An autopsy was done in Augusta, but we are still awaiting results from testing."

The New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit, Somersworth police and the attorney general's office are investigating the circumstances of the baby's death. Officials said it has not been classified as a crime.
