Girl Shoved Out Of Car Before Chase, Police Say

BOSTON -- A Lynn man accused of pushing a 13-year-old girl out of a vehicle before a high-speed chase was charged Tuesday with carjacking.Jose Anderson, 34, pleaded not guilty in Lynn District Court to charges of carjacking, assault and battery, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating without a license.Anderson was accused of carjacking a Nissan Quest in Lynn on Monday, shoving Mary Almeida, 13, out of the vehicle before leading police on a high-speed chase through Lynn, Malden, Revere and Saugus."My mom was in the Salvation Army and she left me in the car because I didn't want to go in, and then all of a sudden, this guy came in the car," Mary said. "He was like, 'Get out. Get out.'"Anderson was captured after the tires of the vehicle blew out on Route 1 in Saugus, police said.Anderson was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing that is scheduled for Jan. 5.If convicted of carjacking, the most serious of the charges, Anderson faces up to 15 years in state prison.
