List Compiled From Animals Treated At Angell Medical Center

BOSTON -- The name Max topped the MSPCA-Angell’s list of Top Pet Names for 2009.
Max won out for both male cats and male dogs, while the most popular for female pets was Bella among dogs and Kitty among cats.
The list was compiled from more than 50,000 patients treated at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston in 2009.
Other popular names on the MSPCA-Angell’s Top Pet Names of 2009 include Bella for rabbits, Bandit for ferrets, Sunny for birds and Baby for guinea pigs.
Some of the more unique names include a hairless Sphynx cat named Uncle Fester and a dog named Deogy (pronounced Dee O Gee).
The top five dog and cat names are as follows:
Dogs (male): 1. Max 2. Bailey 3. Charlie 4. Jake 5. Buddy
Dogs (female): 1. Bella 2. Lucy 3. Daisy 4. Sophie 5. Molly
Cats (male): 1. Max 2. Oliver 3. Tigger 4. Tiger 5. Sam
Cats (female): 1. Kitty 2. Bella 3. Sophie 4. Lucy 5. Chloe
