Off-Duty Officer Pulls Woman From Car As Train Approaches

BOSTON -- An off-duty police officer helped rescue a woman on Tuesday who was trapped in a car that was overturned on train tracks in Wilmington.Officer Louis Martignetti was on his way to his son's hockey game Tuesday night when he saw the crash on Salem Street at about 5:15 p.m. He also heard the sound of an approaching train.Martignetti grabbed Nancy Canney, 45, from inside the car and dragged her out.The train operator also spotted the crash and was able to stop before hitting the woman's car.Canney may have dozed off as she was driving, police said.
