BOSTON -- A missing 27-year-old mother who vanished after dropping her kids off at day care early Monday has been found.

Cortney Hudson was found at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday lying in the snow after police received a 911 call from a resident who saw her near Dunn Pond.

Stephen Palmieri was walking his dog Wednesday morning when he spotted her lying in the snow.

"She looked like she was not in pretty bad shape," he said. "My guess was that she keeled over in that spot."

She was semiconscious and taken to Heywood Memorial Hospital, Gardner Police Chief Neil Erickson said.

Search teams discovered her car Tuesday in the parking lot of the Dunn State Park, just outside Gardner and a couple miles away from her home.

Family said everything seemed fine on Monday. Hudson has a husband, Matt, and two daughters, 8 months and 2 years old. He said he was elated when his wife was found.

"I almost fell over," Matthew Hudson said. "I knew it was good news. It's been a long couple of days."

"We appreciate all of well wishes, thoughts and prayers we've received over the past few days. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Massachusetts State Police and the Gardner Police Department and anyone else involved in the search for Cortney. We would also like to thank the staffs of Heywood Hospital and UMass Memorial Medical Center for the care and comfort they have provided," Cortney Hudson's family said in a statement.

Cortney Hudson dropped off the girls at their day care in Fitchburg, which is on her way to work.

She never made it to her nursing job at the Westford House, a health care facility in Westford about a half-hour away. She was to work 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. shift.

Her family said she has had bouts with depression. Police said she spent more than 24 hours wandering hiking paths alone.
