State agencies are broadening their social networking skills with Twitter -- including a contest Boston's Logan International Airport is running for a free trip.

"We have 2,000 followers on Twitter and 900 fans on Facebook," said Matthew Brelis, of Massport.

The airport is running a trivia contest to get more people to visit their social networking sites.

Logan's teaming up with Virgin America to offer the free flights, and the Four Seasons Hotel is offering the rooms.

"Social media has opened up so we can hear feedback from our guests," said Kristan Fletcher, of the Four Seasons.

The contest starts Monday and runs through Friday. There's a trivia question every day, and if you get it right, your name goes into a drawing. The winner of that drawing will fly to San Francisco and stay at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Passengers at Logan International Airport said that they'd like to receive certain information as soon as possible.

"Sales on parking -- stuff like that would be helpful," one traveler said.

"It would be a good opportunity; before you leave you can check weather conditions," another traveler said.

Logan's not the only group turning toward Twitter. Over the weekend, the Department of Public Health was Tweeting updates about its H1N1 clinics.

During the snowstorm, the Department of Public Transportation was Tweeting updates about road conditions.
