Officers Take Man Into Custody In Bourne

BOSTON -- A Bourne man was arrested early Friday after several students reported seeing a man waving a knife as they waited for their school bus.Officers responded at about 7:15 a.m. to Shaker Drive in the Monument Beach section of Bourne.The students told police that the man who threatened them was driving a red sport utility vehicle."One occupant of the vehicle, the driver, and he waved a knife at about a dozen kids who were waiting for the bus," Bourne Police Department Sgt. Christopher Farrell said.Bourne police quickly spotted the vehicle. Police removed what was believed to be a knife from the vehicle and arrested the man, Caleb Savage, 22, of Bourne."The kids didn't know what this guy was up to. As far as I know, there weren't any words exchanged," Farrell said.Police said Savage, a University of Maine student, was incoherent when he was taken into custody.No students were hurt in the incident.
