A fast-moving fire left 18 people homeless in Brockton Thanksgiving night, fire officials said.

The fire began in a triple-decker at 609 Warren Ave. and jumped quickly to a second triple-decker, causing extensive damage to both buildings.

The fire broke out around 8 p.m. and was brought under control in about an hour.

The Red Cross was contacted to help those who were forced from their homes. Five children were among those left homeless.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
