Missing Teen Found In Car In Ravine

Topsham police said a teen who had been missing since Tuesday has been found alive, and that she had been in a car accident.

During a search for Kourtney Thibeault, 17, an officer noticed what appeared to be fresh damage to a large tree in the area of Roberts Hill Road in Topsham.

A short time later, officers found what appeared to be tire marks in the grass leading toward a steep ravine.

The black Ford Explorer that Thibeault had been driving was found about 40 feet down the ravine. When an officer approached the vehicle, he found Thibeault inside.

Thibeault was alert and immediately began speaking to the officer. It appears she suffered injuries to the lower part of her body. She was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Police said Thibeault of Topsham left her home in her father's vehicle Tuesday afternoon to travel to a class in Auburn. Police said Thibeault had not been heard from since 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
