Massachusetts will honor the armed forces with a series of observances through Veterans Day on Wednesday.

The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony on Sunday, featuring a parade and flyover by an aviation battalion of the Massachusetts National Guard.

Another ceremony is scheduled at the cemetery on Wednesday to honor Army Sgt. First Class Jared Monti. The Raynham native was killed in June while trying to rescue a wounded member of his unit during an intense firefight in Afghanistan.

Monti's family accepted a Medal of Honor for their son last month from President Barack Obama.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra also plans to honor the armed forces by offering complimentary tickets to active service members for its Nov. 12 concert.
