BOSTON -- A delivery man is accused of stealing donations from a Pembroke woman who was dying of breast cancer.A collection can at Lindy's General Store that had about $200 inside was stolen 10 days before Paula Swanson died. Swanson was one of four sisters diagnosed with breast cancer.Police say a delivery man stole the can from the store's counter. Paula's daughter, Laura, collected the money every week and put it toward Paula's People -- a road race team that raises money to fight the disease, according to the Patriot Ledger. An employee noticed that the can was missing. Police checked the store's security camera and saw the delivery man, whose name has not been released, stealing the can, the Ledger reported.Paula, 46, was first diagnosed in 2002. The cancer returned five years later and spread to other parts of her body. She died on Halloween.Paula's sister, Trish Swanson, was diagnosed in November 2007. Paula and Trish called themselves the "cancer twins" until sister Debbie's diagnosis a month later. Then sister Lisa Swanson got the grim news on April Fool's Day.Tests showed four of the sisters tested positive for a mutation in a gene known as BRCA 2, putting them at high risk for both breast and ovarian cancer. Their mother died of ovarian cancer at the age of 67.Paula's death came quickly last week. She and her sisters appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America."To donate to Paula's People, click here.
