The body of a local Marine killed in Afghanistan was returned to his parents on Cape Cod on Wednesday.

Marine Capt. Eric Jones was one of 14 Americans killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan last week.

Jones was in a helicopter that collided with the aircraft piloted by Kyle Vandegesien of North Attleboro. The men didn’t know each other in life, but they will be buried side by side in the National Cemetery on Cape Cod.

The Marine's parents, Ken and Cynthia, spent summers on the Cape for years and now call Mashpee home.

Cynthia Jones said she was so proud of her son and that she had no regrets.

Jones, a Northeastern University graduate, had been living in Westchester, N.Y.

His funeral is scheduled for Saturday.
