BOSTON -- Taunton police are investigating the death of a Florida man who was driven to a local hospital.

Staff members at Morton Hospital called police at 11:15 p.m. to report that a dead man was driven there. The victim was identified as Chad Fleming, 31, of Deerfield Beach, Fla.

Officials said Fleming was beaten to death near 584 Bay St. in Taunton.

No arrests have been made in Fleming's death, but Nelson Melo, 22, of Taunton was charged with witness intimidation in connection to the slaying.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Taunton District Court later Wednesday.
