A Massachusetts State Police trooper who was photographed last April while getting a manicure while in uniform at Logan airport received a written reprimand and was transferred from his post.

Trooper Thomas Gallagher was found to have violated "departmental rules and regulations and appropriate corrective action has been taken," State Police said in a statement Tuesday.

The photograph was supplied to TheBostonChannel.com by a passenger who spotted the trooper while walking to her gate at the airport.

State Police said they began an investigation earlier this year after Team 5 Investigates forwarded the picture.

The woman who took the picture asked to remain anonymous, but she said, "This is what I am paying taxes for?"

"The department would not condone such activity by a member who is on-duty or in uniform," spokesman David Procopio said in April.

Gallagher was transferred from Logan airport to the Danvers barracks.

"Such activity by a uniformed member is not representative of the core values of the Massachusetts State Police," Procopio said.
