Police have identified a 24-year-old Lincoln man as the suspect in an armed robbery that prompted a Boston SWAT team to storm an academic building earlier this week.

Boston Police Department
Akil Washington is accused of robbing a Northeastern University student at gunpoint inside a dormitory at 454 Huntington Ave. on Wednesday during a purported drug deal. Washington allegedly stole a laptop from the student at about 11 p.m., then fled the building on foot.

The student notified Northeastern University police of the robbery, and a Boston Police SWAT team was called to a nearby Wentworth Institute building at 550 Parker St. a few hours later after a campus police officer reported hearing a voice inside the building. The laptop was recovered inside, but the suspect was not found.

Police asked anyone with information about Washington’s whereabouts to contact the Northeastern University Police Department at 617-373-2121.
