Lobster Co. Fire 'Suspicious,' Crews Say
Saugus Fire Crews Battle Late Night Blaze

SAUGUS, Mass. -- An overnight fire that ripped through a warehouse in Saugus is being called suspicious by fire officials who arrived to fight the blaze early Friday. The flames broke out just before 11 p.m. at the former Atlantic Lobster Company on Salem Turnpike. Most of the facility was destroyed.Investigators said there were several explosions from combustible materials inside the building.Saugus police are looking for three teenagers who they believe may have had a hand in the fire. A witness said he a trio fleeing the scene."We had a report from a witness on a bicycle. He observed three black males, teenagers, leaving on BMX bicycles, out of the side where the fence is here, just prior to the fire going off," Saugus Police officer John Naglieri said.Police said the restaurant has been shut down for several years."There is no electricity in the building at this time. There is no plumbing in the building at this time," said James Morand, a friend of the property's owner.It took a few hours, but firefighters did manage to get the fire knocked down without any injuries.The fire marshal was called to the scene to look for any sign of accelerants.No arrests have been made.
